LORD JAH-MONTE OGBON → As of Now

Posted January 30 2026

Charlottean Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon drops his new album As Of Now. Exploring a broader range of styles than on his previous releases and is shaped by late-20s self-reflection, emotional honesty and the sharp wit that’s made him one of underground rap’s most compelling voices.

Ogbon's debut on Lex moves beyond the underground sound of hisprolific self-released catalog, which includes the Navy Blue–produced Beautifully Black and the breakthrough mixtape I’ve Really Never Been Better. The long-player is partly a chronicle of the hard-earned come up of an artist who has quite literally grown from blogging about local rap to getting rave reviews from Pitchfork; partly an examination of the conflict and tension between hopelessness and braggadocious ego; and, most strikingly, a showcase for Ogbon’s vivid, oddball sense of humour and disarmingly relatable raps. On Flewed Out, All Expenses Is Paid For, Ogbon admits he’s haunted by an ex so badly he needs to call up the Ghostbusters for assistance, whilst Texting This Fine Shit For A Month is possibly the first rap song to shout out both Sandra Bullock and Ludacris.

Featuring guest appearances from YL, BbyMutha, Wild Recluse, and Deniro Farrar, with production from Chuck Strangers, Navy Blue, Dirty Art Club, iiye (AKA Pink Siifu) and more.
