zzzahara → Chinese Tobacco

Posted March 04 2026

zzzahara shares "Chinese Tobacco" from their forthcoming album, Distant Lands. The woozy, shoegaze-tinged song references their dad’s alcoholism, and the parallels between his behaviour and zzzahara’s own.

“When I would be high it was no different from my dad being high, he's just high on something else. We're different people, but we’re still one and the same. The instrumental of this track felt like I was dancing in my dreams, it reminded me of the beauty in the mundane. When I used to drift off into deep sleep I felt the most peaceful. I think I feel snippets of this dream state when I listen to this song"

Distant Lands forthcoming June 5th. Pre-order on Blue Sparkle vinyl, tape and CD.
